The Crazed Anthem: A Song for Players

The all-out jazz song is a crazed anthem to the God of Play.
Someone was willing to play to write a song like that,
and I jitter in the sunlight to hear
that confident blaring of joy.

We are such busy planners of our art and
it.
is.
so.
serious.

“Lighten up,” my therapist told me.
Lighten up indeed.

Tickling trumpet first, and barreling
and sawing next, laughing and taunting notes, and it
all being music–
who has the brilliance to
let go? Who has the genius to play?
And the song never ends,
the creative eternity yawns forever.
Here I am laughing into my toybox.
